Following the mammoth merger deal
between Activision and Vivendi Games, Blizzard - which is owned by Vivendi - has issued a statement saying that the move will not impact how it operates.
"There will be no changes to our games, our websites, our personnel, or our day-to-day operations as a result of the deal", Blizzard said in a statement. "However, this combining of resources will benefit all of the companies involved and will further strengthen Blizzard's ability to continue delivering high-quality content for our players around the world for many years to come."
Getting more specific, the announcement included the following, "All of the people, processes, and philosophies that have made Blizzard so successful will be preserved. Blizzard will benefit from all-star sales and distribution teams to service our products. In addition, the combined company will be stronger financially, managerially, and operationally."
Just why Blizzard feels the need to justify all this when neither Activision nor Vivendi ('Games' other otherwise) has even hinted that the newly formed Activision Blizzard will tinker with one of the most golden of all geese is interesting in itself. Could it have the hallmarks of someone protesting a little too much?
For now, apparently you can lay aside fears that the MMO king behind
World of Warcraft will suffer as a result of the merger.
The mammoth deal will see the newly formed Activision Blizzard become the world's biggest third party publisher, according to Activision and Vivendi. You can read SPOnG's full report
