Rock Band developer Harmonix is currently firefighting a number of problems with the PS3 version of the popular music-based game - and also with an early batch of faulty guitars.
Although these problems have marred the US launch of the game - at least it means that all the glitches should be sorted for the UK launch next March. So, that's good news then.
"Some of you have contacted us about the PS3 edition of
Rock Band - from issues with guitar compatibility to frustration that stand-alone guitars and drums for
Rock Band have not yet hit stores", Harmonix said in a statement earlier this week.
"Please know that these issues have our full attention. We are listening and we read everything that is posted on our forums. We are committed to providing the best play experience possible and working hard to ensure that we solve these problems as soon as possible. We promise to keep you updated and, in the meantime, we thank you for your patience."
Harmonix also assured gamers that problems with dodgy strumming bars coming lose on the guitar peripherals were only due to a faulty first batch and that the problem had been "identified and fixed [in] all subsequent production runs".
Maybe if they'd used Rickenbacker 'themed' guitars instead of (shudder) Fender Stratocasters (the most soulless of all axes) the problem wouldn't have arisen... maybe not.
Anyone experiencing problems can apply for a replacement unit immediately. It’s good to see EA/Harmonix/MTV move so quickly to solve these teething problems.
