Konami of Japan has bowed to pressure from MGS fans everywhere and rehired actor and screenwriter David Hayter as the voice for Solid Snake.

Hayter was thought to have become “a little too big for the role,” of late, as his most recent film, X-Men was tremendously successful. He has recently confirmed his commitment to the project saying, “I have spoken to Hideo Kojima’s team in great depth in recent weeks and I believe the scale and level of narrative in the new game is amazing. The project will fit nicely for me and I am proud to be part of what is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated games of all time.”

Other voice talent confirmed for Sons of Liberty includes Christopher Fritz as the voice of Octagon and Patric Lane as Revolver Ocelot.

Konami plans on releasing Metal Gear Solid 2: The Sons of Liberty before Christmas this year. Excitingly, the company has recently hinted that more playable levels of the game will be made available to the press at this year’s E3 event which takes place in Los Angeles in May.
