Zack & Wiki Slips To 2008 In Europe
Capcom has confirmed with SPOnG today that is cutesy Wii adventure, Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure, has slipped to 2008 in Europe. Despite the fact that it’s been out for a couple of weeks in the US already, January 18 is when Europeans will get a look in at this pirate-themed Wii puzzler.

The official line is as follows:

"Nintendo & Capcom have both made the decision to launch in early 2008 to ensure that this great title receives both the marketing and media focus it deserves."

We thought, "Nah, that can't just be it, this is a localisation issue", so we called Capcom who told us, "As Nintendo is responsible for the distribution of this title you will need to contact them for a comment".

So, we called Nintendo, who told us, "Nintendo & Capcom have both made the decision to launch in early 2008 to..."

We accept that launching in January will enable the game to escape the Super Mario Galaxy blitz prior to Xmas. We also accept that launching in January will enable the inevitably huge (if demand can be met by supply) number of new Wii owners to fork out for the game because they've finished Super Mario Galaxy (yeah, right).

So, maybe this is not down to, "We left the European localisation to the last minute and frankly as long as it's out in the States that's all we care about, you bunch of Euro-trash, cheese-eating surrender monkeys!"

That said, the sooner everybody in the entire world is speaking one language the better - and we don't even care if that language is Cilubà - that way at least there won't be any hint of a possibility that delays are due to localisation issues.

It's not all bad news in Wii world though. Let’s not forget that Super Mario Galaxy is on shelf on Friday. So, wipe that tear from your eye.

SPOnG plans to skip off work early on some flimsy excuse and hole up for the entire weekend with Mario. Read our recent review to find out why.
