Amidst the swirling uncertainty of rumours circulating that a first party Microsoft title is on the chopping block, SPOnG can bring you one rock of information: that title is not Rare's
Banjo-Kazooie.
A source at Rare has confirmed directly to SPOnG, in no uncertain terms, that "It's definitely not
Banjo".
The rumours have only intensified of late, with American magazine
EGM's Shane Bettenhausen saying in a podcast, "A big Microsoft first-party title that has been in the works for a very long time, that people are very excited for, sounds like it's being cancelled."
Of course, a sizeable list of titles that might be up for the chop is left. Bettenhausen tells us that there's a (very exact) 97% chance of this rumour coming to fruition.
This was then picked up by
GameGuru which stated, "...since the possibility of this rumor coming true stands at 97% by the speaker Banjo seems the likely candidate to get the axe, Sorry Old chap, guess it’s the grave for you".
We don't get the logic either.
Pressed a little harder about what would be canned, our man or woman on the inside told us, "I haven't heard these rumours internally, so it could all be hot air for all I know".
Ahh...
