Will Wright, the gaming luminary behind
The Sims and
winner of the first gaming BAFTA fellowship, has confirmed that the massively anticipated
Spore is heading to the Wii.
Speaking in an interview about the different platforms, Wright said:
"We're doing Spore on the Wii, and we did MySims. It takes signifcant re-thinking to work out how you're going to do it. PS3 and Xbox 360 are similar enough that you can basically use the same system for both. So it comes down to what the interesting major platforms are and which markets we want to hit."
With all that in mind it will be interesting to see how
Spore translates onto Nintendo's home console. The game is also slated to come out on the DS, but that version will focus on earlier editing game mechanics rather than trying to cram the whole epic experience onto the handheld.
SPOnG
broke the news that Spore would find its way onto consoles over a year ago now, but it's taken a long time for details to creep forth.
Let us know your thoughts on just what form the Wii version of
Spore will take in the Forum.
