SPOnG reported last Thursday on a sensationalist Sky News
report relating to the leaked version of Manhunt 2, which claimed that thousands of UK gamers were now playing the leaked version.
The report also claimed, more interestingly, that the leak had come from an employee of a company that was NOT Rockstar and that the employee in question had been sacked for committing the offence of leaking the game.
The report read that: “[Rockstar] accepts the game was leaked onto the web by an employee of a different company who had access to the preview copy. That person has been sacked.”
Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive has since released the following statement regarding the employee that leaked
Manhunt 2:
“Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that a former employee of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has acknowledged his responsibility for the unauthorized online distribution of an unrated play-test version of Manhunt 2 submitted for the European PAL PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system.”
SPOnG has contacted Rockstar and SCEE in the UK this morning so stay tuned for more on this story shortly.
