Sony Europe has just announced that it is to emigrate to Poland... Okay, that's excessive, what's actually happened is that Sony is to set up a company in Polska called Sony Computer Entertainment Polska Sp. z.o.o., a new.

The new off-shoot will begin life on, wait for it... April 1, 2008. This is possibly to commemorate the death of Sigismund I the Elder, King of Poland, who died at the age of 81 in 1548. Possibly it is not.

According to SCEE, "In recognition of the increasing importance of the Central and Eastern European market to PlayStation, the announcement of the formation of the new Polish subsidiary marks the commencement of a new focus by SCEE on the dynamic markets of the region from Czech Republic to Russia.

"The company will be based in Warsaw and will manage the PlayStation portfolio of game systems and software titles throughout Poland from 1 April 2008."

So, a marketing wing for Sony behind what used to be called 'The Iron Curtain' - SPOnG wonders which PS3 version our Polish, Czech, Russian, Hungarian and other erstwhile purveyors of 'Red Terror' will be getting their hands on... and at what price?

SPOnG in no way endorses
