Rumour: Bungie and Microsoft To Part Ways
The rumour mill went into overdrive last night, following alleged comments from a Bungie staffer that Microsoft has agreed to allow Bungie to leave the MS fold and operate as an independent studio.

A reporter on website 8bitJoystick claims that his source for this story, “is inside the Redmond beltway and I have no reason to doubt them. I really can't go into it since they are a confidential source from companies involved. But I have the absolutely highest confidence in my source and I know my rights and responsibilities as a journalist. I assure you that my source came from inside Bungie but I can never say who or the details."

He continues: "I understand that there are completely valid reasons to be skeptical about this but I am sticking by my source and gut on this one. If you don't believe me.. fine I don't have a problem with that and I applaud your healthy skepticism. I would be skeptical too but I know my source and apparently from all the traffic I've been getting from Microsoft.com and Bungie.net I might have hit a nerve. and this might pan out as true.”

We're not going to offer any further comment except to say that SPOnG has put in the requisite call to Microsoft and Bungie this morning to get to the bottom of this rumour.

Stay tuned.

nope, not gonna happen.

they're gonna let bungie go after launching the most anticipated videogame in history? and after getting the biggest marketing push for a game ever, why would bungie want to leave MS? (unless they had a condition to still produce exclusively for MS)

even if they did somehow leave MS, they would not take the Halo license with them. Halo is up there with the greatest videogame franchises now, MS would never let it go.

So basically...

"OMG BUNGIE IS LEAVING MS...even though I have absolutely no proof and no one will believe me."

This is a news story? Come on, Spong...try harder.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me, if Bungie was looking to leave MS, cause they've kept Bungie on a short leash ever since they got them. Bungie was their own beast before Halo, and yah, I could just be hopeful of this because I was a fan of Bungie pre-Halo, but I could still see this happening, especially BECAUSE Bungie was just so successful with Halo 3. They now have enough clout to throw around and do what they want, and MS knows they won't survive without keeping Bungie happy.

**SLIGHT HALO 3 SPOILER....just in case**

In a recent interview I saw on YouTube with Marty O'Donnell (music composer for Halo series) he said that Bungie might leave the Halo series for a while to develop something different. MS may write them a big cheque to get them on with Halo 4 though.
