With
Project Gotham Racing developer, Bizarre Creations, falling into the arms of Activision yesterday, the question of the franchise's future has been well and truly resolved from both sides of the deal.
Activision has amended its press release to state in no uncertain terms: "The
Project Gotham Racing franchise, which is owned by Microsoft, currently has an average game rating of 89%, according to GameRankings.com and has sold more than 4.5 million units in North America and Europe, according to The NPD Group, Charttrack and Gfk."
While Microsoft has made an equally unequivocal statement today
†, saying, "Bizarre Creations has been an great partner for Microsoft Game Studios and we wish them nothing but the best in the future.
Project Gotham Racing is a signature racing franchise for Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE and we plan to continue the series but we have nothing further to announce."
So, prepare for
Project Gotham Racing 5 from a brand new development team. And prepare for another superb racing game via Activision's Bizarre Creations studios! Excellent.
