Nintendo has confirmed what SPOnG told you
yesterday: the Wii Zapper will ship with
Link's Crossbow Training.
Additionally, Nintendo has confirmed that the peripheral will launch for $19.99 (£9.85) in the U.S. on November 19th.
Link's Crossbow Training whisks players away to “a world in the style of
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.” Once there, Nintendo tells us, “Players assume the identity of hero Link, who progresses through a series of tests to perfect his crossbow marksmanship. Start with stationary bull's-eyes and graduate to moving targets before defending Link against all kinds of enemies.”
Basically, then, the game will show off what the Zapper will do in the same way that Wii Sports did for the console but presumably (given the low price point) will not offer too much depth.
Nintendo has also confirmed three third party titles that will use the Zapper: EA's
Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Capcom's
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and SEGA's
Ghost Squad.
SPOnG called Nintendo UK for details of when the peripheral will launch over here, but was told, “We haven't announced any details for Europe.”
Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications, George Harrison, seems suitably chuffed, offering, "The Wii Zapper combines our remarkable controllers into one housing with a classic style reminiscent of arcade-style games. Both veteran and first-time players will find it brings a whole new dimension to games where targeting is key and provides even more exciting game-play experiences." Cheers George.
