The latest rumour surrounding Activision's highly anticipated
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, is that an online co-op mode is in the pipeline for the Xbox 360 version.
Infinity Ward's studio head and president, Grant Collier, let slip a comment at the Activate Asia Pacific conference that kicked off the speculation. Responding to a question about whether
CoD4 will feature split screen multiplayer co-op, or any kind of co-op at all, Collier said, “Uh, no, I’m not really supposed to say anything about that… but I’m a big fan of Xbox Live and downloadable content.”
Obviously that's far from confirmation, but presumably if there wasn't going to be any kind of co-op Collier would have just said "no". So... "Xbox Live" and "downloadable content"? Sounds like we might be seeing an update post-release to throw in multi-player co-op over Xbox Live.
In the meantime,
CoD4's multiplayer beta
became available to UK residents over the weekend, with an update thrown in for good measure.
