SPOnG is getting unreasonably excited about the forthcoming Video Games Live gig at London’s South Bank on 22nd October, even more so with the announcement today that Microsoft is to be the main sponsor of the event, which sees London’s Philharmonia tackle the music from blockbuster
Halo 3, as well as classic compositions from
Mario,
Zelda,
Final Fantasy,
Warcraft,
Myst,
Sonic and even all the way back to
Pong and
Space Invaders.
The event is set to feature a special arrangement from
Halo 3, composed by Marty O’Donnell, to be performed live by members of the Philharmonia Orchestra for the first time ever.
Microsoft will also ensure that there are plenty of Xbox 360 demo pods dotted around the venue, so you will be able to get some rare hands on time with the 360’s top titles for Xmas 07.
Hosted and conducted by co-creators Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall, the musical bombast of the London Philharmonia at the South Bank centre (that big grey, concretey place down in that London) is set to be considerably enhanced by synchronized lighting, solo performers, electronic percussion, live action and unique interactive segments “to create an explosive one-of-a-kind entertainment experience.”
Video Games Live officially kicks off this year’s London Games Festival, running from 22nd - 26th October. Check out
