Rock Band heads to PS2, New Tracks for Euro Release
The rumours were right. Harmonix/MTV's Rock Band has been delayed 'til early next year in Europe, the game's publisher EA confirmed at Leipzig today as well as confirming that the band-in-a-box game is also heading to the PlayStation 2 in Europe.

The PS2 version of Rock Band will feature most of the same features as the next-gen games, and have some exclusive features of its own. What they are we can only guess at - perhaps most of the on-line elements will be culled from the PS2 version. More details as we get them from EA.

New Rock Band tracks announced at Leipzig today include "Dadrock" classics such as Deep Purple's "Highway Star", Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl". However, there's the promise that the Euro release will see enhancements to the track list, with the tantalising news of additional tracks suited to the European palate [for the love of god, please no "Final Countdown" - Ed]. This is obviously very good news, simply because it is widely known that Europeans have better musical taste than Americans - look at the current US Billboard charts if you don't believe us.

SPOnG hopes that they take a leaf out of RedOctane’s book, which recently announced that the Stone Roses’ baggy classic She Bangs The Drums is set to appear in Guitar Hero 3 (out this November on PS3, PS2, Wii and 360), with more Madchester and Britpop classics promised for that title.

See SPOnG's recent Guitar Hero 3 interview with RedOctane's European boss, the awesomely named Zach Fountain, for more details.

Here’s the full official Rock Band track list as it stands to date. More suggestions in the forum please.
