John Schappert, formerly executive vice president at Electronic Arts, has joined the stream of traffic between the publisher and Microsoft.
Schappert will take on a newly created role as Corporate Vice President of LIVE, software and services. In a nutshell, that means he'll oversee Xbox Live, also taking on Games for Windows-LIVE, XNA and Microsoft Casual Games.
Don Mattrick, the newly named Senior Vice President of Iinteractive Entertainment Business at Microsoft, said, “John’s expertise will help us focus on expanding and enriching our market leadership with LIVE in areas like online services while broadening our audience. John will also build on the great work already happening in the developer community working with Chris Satchell and the XNA organization.”
Mattrick, of course, was at EA not so long ago himself. The two companies seem to be running an
employee exchange of late, with Peter Moore having defected the other way from Microsoft to EA.
