Exclusive: BBC Dismisses Gaming Rumours

SPOnG has been told by the BBC that rumours suggesting it will be moving back into games development are unsubstantiated.

Following speculation that the BBC will re-invigorate its presence in the games industry, originating in Scotland on Sunday, SPOnG spoke to one of the Beeb's representatives and was told:

"Simon Nelson Controller Portfolio & Multimedia, BBC Vision will be doing a keynote at the Edinburgh Interactive Games Festival. However, the focus of his speech is on what the BBC can learn from the gaming industry (and vice versa). The presentation will not reveal a major move into the games industry and is in fact just reflective of the way in which various sectors of the entertainment industry are now converging and can learn from each others methods of working."

So, as long as there's no phone-ins and the Queen doesn't flounce out in the time it takes to set this story 'live', we can be sure that this quote is rock solid fact.
