Colin McRae DiRT: Damaging New PS3 Video
SPOnG's getting a tad concerned at all these nasty racing games now. Games developers seem utterly fixated on mashing up cars. Is that what we all secretly want to do to our Audi TTs and Holden Monaro HRT 427s? Is that any way to treat a finely crafted piece of machinery? Do we really want to encourage that kind of behaviour on our roads? Apparently Codemasters thinks the answer to all the above questions is a resounding 'yes'.

That's what this latest video for the upcoming PlayStation 3 version of Colin McRae: DiRT has led us to believe, anyway. They do love their destructibility, those boys. Dig into the video below to see what we mean.

When you're done, you can find out more about DiRT on SPOnG's dedicated game page.

Everytime I see something Dirt related, I just want to get my hands on it!! I played the demo on the 360 (downloaded) and I enjoyed it... Maybe I should get it... Hmm...

Question is, given that Dirt's been out on 360 for over a month now, is this level of damage modelling exclusive to PS3? Otherwise, why bother releasing this vid now?

Blame it on the fscktard car manufacturers, not the developers

I can almost 100% guarantee that the cretinous little s**ts at #name your favoured supercar manufacturer# have clause in the game licence that states their precious runabouts cannot be depicted with scuffs, dings, dents , wrapped around a lamppost or, god forbid, upside down.

It's all rather pathetic. I think the publishers and developers should show some solidarity and, when a car manufacturer that tries to pull such an asinine move, jointly excise that company's cars from any games that are in development.

I think config's invective was in response to the idea that GT should have car damage.

yep. you're spot on about the car makers but it's pretty spineless of some developers to use that as an excuse.
Why don't they just go to BMW and tell them "Mercedes are letting us do it..."
