Ubisoft has confirmed the rumour that NBC's excellent Heroes show is being turned into a game. The publisher announced that it has signed a deal with Universal Pictures Digital Platforms Group securing the license.

Details are still scarce, with no information available on platform or release date.

"We are very excited to be making the Heroes video game with Ubisoft,” said Tim Kring, executive producer and creator of Heroes. “Time and again, Ubisoft has proven they can turn licensed properties into fantastic games."

Christian Salomon, vice president of worldwide licensing at Ubisoft, seems just as chuffed. “With a gripping storyline and rich characters, Heroes lends itself naturally to a video game format, he said. “By offering people the chance to interact directly with the show’s captivating universe, there is no doubt that the game will appeal to both fans of the series and avid gamers.”

Ubisoft has also just dished out more information on another big TV show it has the rights for: Lost. Click here for the full story and a video to whet your appetite.

In related news, comics publishing giant DC has just secured the license to collect the Heroes webcomics – currently available on the official website – into graphic novel form as part of its WildStorm imprint. So far there have been 43 different stories on the site, with art from comics professionals such as Michael Turner, Tim Sale, Marcus To, Mitch Gunnell, and Phil Jimenez. The book will be available in Autumn.

Have a look at the clip below from the TV show to see the sort of Heroes goodness we want to sink our thumbs into.
