Microsoft has been crowing loudly for some time now that it has ‘exclusive’ downloadable
Grand Theft Auto 4 content planned with Rockstar, only for release on Xbox 360.
Rockstar spokesman Hosi Simon has gone on record to claim that the full
Grand Theft Auto 4 experience will require an Xbox 360, telling an interviewer:
"They're identical games [on PS3 and 360]. We're not hardware makers, and we're not like a pawn between these companies, we try not to be as much as we can. We make great games for people to enjoy on whichever system they want. But I guess if you want the complete experience with the episodes, then yeah, you should buy the 360, I suppose."
Crikey!
SPOnG can only assume that this quote was taken well out of context. Otherwise we would expect that Hosi Simon’s overlords have most likely ‘ticked him right off’ for his rather telling, throwaway comment here, although he is really just confirming what we all kind of knew anyway.
SPOnG would really like to know the exact amount of hard cash given to Rockstar by Microsoft to secure this ‘kind of’ exclusive on
Grand Theft Auto 4. Does the
rumoured $50 million (£24.4 million) sound right to you? Random guesses in the forum please.
Come on Rockstar! Throw the Sony faithful a bone and tell us what, if anything, you have in store for
GTA4 extra downloadable goodies on PS3.
Oh. And here’s a bunch of new
Grand Theft Auto 4 screens.
Watch out later today for Adam’s full preview and all the latest on
Grand Theft Auto 4 .
