Speaking to SPOnG, Keiji "the Killa" Inafune (Head of Research & Development and Online Business at Capcom) explains the decision behind moving the Devil May Cry franchise to Xbox 360 rather than maintaining PlayStation exclusivity.

"Until now it’s been hard for us to develop multi-platform games, but recently we have developed this development engine that allows us to develop a game in the engine and then put it on to PS3 and 360.

Developing Dead Rising and Lost Planet helped flush out everything in the development tool system – which is now pretty much complete, aside from the usual upgrades – so we decided to use that engine, make it for the 360 and the PS3 with Devil May Cry 4."

Doesn't quite explain why they did it. Basically he's saying "we did it because we can."

Really it's to sell more copies.

Isn't that a good enough reason?

I think the actual reason is closer to "We couldn't think of any good reason not to."

this is a good way of saying it was possible the ps3 user base is big but not big enough for shareholders and we want some money so lets stick it on the xbox 360 along with everything else we are doing!

anyone else think DMC4 will be good on wii, seems like a good platform to enter with this game?
