505 Games has just revealed its slinky new DS game for wannabe fashion designers:
Fashion Designer: Style Icon. The fashion world can be a tough place. SPOnG's watched
Project Catwalk, so we know. Fortunately, 505 Games is going to take us all from humble beginnings at fashion school right through to the dizzying heights of catwalk greatness. Along the way, players will be able to start workshops, take on private design contracts, supply trendy little boutiques or get gullible spenders into oodles of debt by supplying catalogues.
505 Games tells us:
“The comprehensive simulation gameplay is mission based and offers players the chance to present their creations in catalogues and movie posters, and even gives designers the freedom to select which supermodels, hairstyles and creations will strut their stuff on the catwalk. Player performance is rated according to factors including tailoring time, design choices and accuracy. All must be heeded if players are to become the world’s most popular fashion designer!”
To SPOnG's ears, the phrase 'mission based' has the distinct ring of designers flouncing off into the jungle armed only with a sewing kit, shouting “Charlie in the tree-line” as a beige-slash-leaf green terror unfolds all around them. That said, it's always pleasant to indulge one's inner fashion-Nazi, without the influence of Susannah or Trinny, or whoever's telling you what not to wear this week.
