Mario Party 8 Slips To Mid-July

Best find something else to entertain the kids with 'til then

Yes, yes, yes. We all watched the ‘shocking’ Panorama report earlier this week on the negative effects of too much telly and computer games on our children, but sometimes (not often enough) we get games that we really enjoy getting stuck into with our younger sons, daughters and nephews and nieces.

Mario Party 8 is surely set to be one such game for the coming summer, so it’s with a smidgeon of annoyance that we have to report today that the UK release of the game has slipped from the planned release this Friday (June 22nd) to later next month. July 13th to be exact.

Nintendo tells us that the mini slippage is down to production problems with the English version of the game. Bah!

"We are working hard to rectify the issue to ensure this fun, family party game can be enjoyed as soon as possible," they also add.

Work harder Nintendo! Make it come soon, otherwise the summer hols will be upon us, and then what are we going to entertain our children with! Good heavens above, we may even have to take them outside to play in the park!

See all you need to see on Mario Party 8 at SPOnG’s game page.

How on Earth can Nintendo claim it's the English version of the game that's the problem? The US (English Language) version came out in May so it can't be translation, and England uses the same non-NTSC system as the rest of Europe so why is England getting the blame for the delay?fish

I like the way some dismiss the Mario Party series like that. To be honest they usually to be a laugh, the effect is just better with more people. They excell like Mario Kart in two player, to a new highlight with more players (and some booze if you have it).

I dare you lot, if you have a copy of Mario Party 8 and Super Monkey Ball on Wii. Play them with some booze and you'll have some good fun. Tried these two on GC with previous versions and had a laugh with my mates.

Mini-games my friend, mini-games. There are few finer gaming moments than drunken Monkey Target or Monkey Bowling in the original Gamecube version. I imagine that drunken Monkey Fight is played in Elysium.
