As we reported back in November 2006, Nintendo is preparing to port Pilot Wings over to Wii's virtual console along with seven other 'classics'.

U.S. retailer, GameStop, has gone one step further however, by posting a pre-released purchase date of what we can only assume is a boxed copy of Pilot Wings for the new-gen console. The date quoted for pre-release purchase is December 31st 2007 with a U.S. price of $49.99 (£25).

The retailer also has place holder text stating, "Official pricing and release dates have not been announced by the publisher. Price and release date listed are estimates only and subject to change. Worry Free Guarantee - if the price decreases between the time you place your preorder and the release date, you’ll receive the lower of the two," and no packshot.

None of the other games we quoted in our previous story are posted by GameStop.

That's good news after the debacle of Wing Island. I wonder if this is what Monolith are working on?

This should be interesting to play on Wii.
