Rumour: Big PS3 Announcement Coming Monday - UPDATE
Folks will be “smiling wide”... rumour...
UPDATE: Okay, so the only thing that actually was announced on Monday June 11th was Sony's new online shooter - The Agency - check the screens and trailer out right here.
Sony fans may be getting treated to a huge announcement on Monday, if the latest rumour doing the rounds is to be believed.
Alluding to an upcoming interview, the team on the AllGamesNetwork podcast hinted that something big will become embargo-free next week. Details were sparse, but the following was said:
The most obvious guess is that a new PS3 exclusive is about to be announced, or that further details of an already-known title are going to see daylight. The name Killzone 2 keeps bubbling up in forum postings. SPOnG, however, is dubious. With Sony having confirmed that the Killzone 2 will be playable at E3, it seems unlikely that the company will be making a big announcement about the game before then.
One thing SPOnG can tell you is that the announcement won't be coming out of Europe. SPOnG asked Sony Computer Entertainment Europe what the announcement will be, and was told by a representative that they “don't know.”

That would be good, as long as we get it in Europe.
Personally, I'm hoping for some Killzone footage, but I'm willing to be disappointed on that if we get some new exclusive game that will land in the next couple of months.

the uk playstation store will be updated to the usa store (hopes & dreams)
home will be out for every one in july (if only)
there is a price drop and every one that got one will get a hd tv for free (copy xbox but do it in a big way never going to happen but would be so cool

How about a free complementary George Foreman lean fat reducing grilling machine, when you spend all that wonga on a PS3. Then you can stick them both in your house and not tell the difference between them, only when you try to cook bacon off the PS3s heat, from it being on all day.

knowing the PS3 i doubt the news will be anything to do with gaming.... it'll probably be if you leave you PS3 running over night it'll cure 3rd world hunger!....or some such thing?...

I'm so bored of hearing 360 owners knocking the PS3. I can't wait for the day, in, say, two years time or so, when their 360s are sat bricked next to a pile of scratched discs; 360 games have to come on 4 discs just to compete with blu-ray's huge storage capacity; when HD-DVD is dead and buried; when Metal Gear 4 is out on PS3 and makes 360 look like the nancy-boy backwards-thinking gaming PC in a silly case that it is.
No, I don't have a PS3, but I have played both "next gen" consoles extensively, and I've seen the future and it's amazing. So 360 has Halo 3 coming. Big deal. That's just Quake for nancies. My message to all the nay-sayers is quit your snide snivelling remarks, as one day the tables will be turned and you'll all look very silly indeed. He who laughs last and all that. Why can't we all just be friends?

Well, PS3 is selling like crap, it has no games and it costs 600 bucks... What makes you so sure it will be any different in 2 years? If they don't do something soon, their fate will be sealed. If 360 hits 20 million before they hit 10 million it's gonna be a short and bumpy ride for Sony.
As for all the tech-related issues... i wonder. Bluray will be a system seller when everybody owns a HD-TV... which will be in at least another few years and by then the race will be pretty fixed. It also didn't help xbox vs PS2 or PSP vs DS... and don't forget, average 360 games will easily look as good or better than PS3 games, easier hardware and a better GPU. The few devs that will really take advantage of the PS3 horsepower, in the long run, i doubt it 'll do much for Sony.

The 360 is completely delivering on it's promise, the PS3 isnt, once it does then i'll lay off.

Couldn't have said it any better Oz. Sony need to stop tripping over their laces. Cut the price, get the games out and you might have chance, and we'd all stop our bitching. I want PS3 to do well and I want to buy one eventually, but Sony need to cut that price to win my favour.
Enough about Blu Ray, only a fraction of the U.K public have a HDTV anyway. Many are upgrading to flat panels tvs, but only as far as HD Ready ones (which isn't full HDTV still). Work the console angle first and worry about the film stuff later. This is a games industry, Sony.
Like, MS they need to make a loss in order to gain something back. A reasoanble price cut is the key to that.
