Epic's vice president,
Mark Rein, has dealt gaming scuttlebutt a firm slap on the posterior regarding
Gears of War heading to the PlayStation 3.
In a posting in Epic's official forum Rein wrote:
“This story is complete bull****. I emailed the site (N4G) and asked them to take it down. We're very happy with our relationship with Microsoft. If it weren't for them Gears wouldn't be the huge hit it has become.”
Lo and behold, N4G now features the headline, “Epic Threatens to Move
Gears to PS3?” followed simply by the word “deleted”.
Before it was pulled the story indicated that, because of
disputes over Xbox Live content for the game, Epic was threatening to take
Gears of War to the PS3.
Bear in mind that N4G itself is a news aggregator rather than a news site.
It seems like another hour, another rumour quashed, this morning. Earlier SPOnG informed you that
another rumour relating to platform-exclusivity, this time regarding
Metal Gear Solid 4, is speculation at best.
SPOnG would like to take a moment to commend Rein on his firm rebuttal of Internet... well, lies. He earns himself a point on the SPOnG Industry BS Index for actually commenting on rumours and speculation.
