Disney's DS Pirates of the Caribbean Exclusive Content
The Walt Disney organisation is to offer exclusive DS content from Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End for download in Disney Parks in Southern California and Florida.

Created in partnership with Disney Interactive Studios for Disneyland and Walt Disney World, guests with a Nintendo DS and a copy of the DS game will be able to download content only found in these locations. You've got to hand it to them, this really is making the most of your intellectual property.

According to Disney, "At Disneyland, half the fun will be discovering "hotspot" locations in New Orleans Square (hint: as every pirate knows, X marks the spot) for downloads that unlock new content such as unlimited health and "savvy" as well as fun extras and additional costumes. This special content is only available in the parks through Labor Day weekend and is accessible with a Nintendo DS."

This initiative builds on Disney's wireless networking plus, let's face it, one of the most high-profile and popular franchises around at the moment. Frankly, it's too clever by half. We can't wait to see something similar happening at Whipsnade Zoo with a copy of Worms Open Warfare 2 or at the Cumberland Pencil Museum with a copy of The Secret of Monkey Island on 3.5-inch disk.
