Burnout 5 for next-gen consoles named.

Next-gen Burnout is going to be Paradise. So said EA today when it announced the title of its latest Burnout game for the PS3 and Xbox 360, due next winter. EA's released the video and screens below to get our adrenalin levels up in anticipation.

No next-gen racing title would be complete, of course, without the obligatory, better-than-ever crash physics. “Next generation technology has enabled an unprecedented level of crash deformation allowing you to experience the most explosive pile-ups in the series’ history,” EA informs us. Shame they couldn't have shown us any of that metal-warping fun stuff in this video, but you can't have it all.

“Next generation consoles have opened up a raft of new gameplay opportunities and the Criterion team has leapt at the chance to innovate and raise the bar to an all-new high,” said the game's executive producer, Pete Hawley. “There are going to be some big surprises and a lot of new features but the core of the game is still pure Burnout. Instant accessibility will be reinforced by innovative on-line capabilities which will see Burnout Paradise smash racing conventions.”

You might be forgiven for thinking EA's keen to the point of excess with this announcement. It was only a month ago today that Burnout: Dominator hit UK shelves for the PS2, after all. Still, SPOnG doesn't like to complain when we're delivered ridiculously fast next-gen goodness. Enjoy!
