Sega of Europe has confirmed that Daytona USA 2001 will not support full online play.
We initially broke the story three weeks ago to a disappointed and surprised Dreamcast gaming community.
The move is part of a cost-cutting exercise enforced on Sega of Europe by the Japanese board.
“Everyone is worried about the reaction of the public and the press if Sega of Japan decides to pull the plug on Europe,” said our Sega insider. “There are many gamers that bought the Dreamcast solely for online gaming and Daytona was supposed to be a fine example of this with full online racing.”
Sega has confirmed that its European servers will not carry support for Daytona USA. We hope that it will not be the case with future Dreamcast releases and of course keep you up to date with all Dreamcast online news.
