SPOnG had the pleasure of attending Codemaster’s ‘Code07’ press event earlier this week where – amidst the obligatory helicopters, fast cars and lashings of fine wines – we were treated to not one new game announcement, not even two, but an impressive three – the first of which is ambitious action-RPG Rise of the Argonauts.
The game, down for a 2008 release on PC and ‘leading console platforms’ is being developed by Desperate Housewives and Lord of the Rings: War of the Ring game developer, Liquid Entertainment and was pitched to us as “a gladiatorial adventure, set in wondrously imagined vision of ancient Greece.”
Players are charged with leading a team of iconic warriors from Greek mythology – including Jason, Hercules and Atalanta – as they battle their way through “a world ruled by mythological gods.”
Barry Jafrato, Codemasters Senior VP of Brand says of the title, “Rise of the Argonauts is a further key property in our 2008 portfolio… Codemasters’ investment in developing new IPs, which will sit alongside the new extensions of our existing brands, reinforces our ongoing commitment to bring original and thrilling new gaming experiences to market.”
