EA has just announced
Boogie a new, all-singing, all-dancing original title for the Wii. Well, half-singing and half-dancing, anyway. SPOnG's got the first screens for you to take a peek at.
The game will incorporate singing and dancing as well as allowing players to star in their own music videos. It also, from the look of the screens, features a chap looking a lot like Doctor Zoidberg from
Futurama.
The new title comes out of EA's Montreal studio. It joins the excellent (if
under-performing)
SSX Blur for the Wii and the upcoming
Army of Two for the PS3 and 360 in EA Montreal's push to produce new IP.
EA's come out as a strong supporter of Nintendo's platforms. When
Spore was
announced on the DS (the only console platform the game's been announced on) EA's CEO, Larry probst, said,
"On the Nintendo platforms, we think that we can be a very strong number two. Clearly Nintendo will always be number one on the Wii and Nintendo DS, but we think we have a realistic goal of being number two, with a market share goal of 15-20 percent.”
Details of how the
Boogie will work are still scarce, but EA Montreal's certainly demonstrated that it can make the most of the Wii's controls with
SSX Blur. We've also seen that dancing on the Wii can work thanks to the embarrassing rhythm section in
WarioWare: Smooth Moves. This might just be quite good.
