Some confusion arose earlier this week regarding the planned delivery method for the eagerly-awaited PS3 motion-control flight combat title,
Warhawk.
Warhawk developer Incognito announced recently that the game would be made available as a multiplayer-only title, via download from the PlayStation Store.
However, confusion set in when a Sony Compute Entertainment America (SCEA) spokesperson told an online site otherwise, claiming, "Officially,
Warhawk will be released as a Blu-ray-based product. It will see release in late summer…It's a disk-based product.”
Well clearly somebody hadn’t informed that SCEA spokesperson that he’d missed a meeting!
SPOnG just came off the blower with a PR rep at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe who re-confirmed for us that the title would be made available, “only as a downloadable ‘EDI’ [Electronic Distribution Initiative].”
Warhawk director Dylan Jobe explained the canning of the single-player element to the game, being refreshingly honest and admitting that it, “just really wasn't up to par".
Release date and pricing for
Warhawk are still to be announced.
