While we patiently await the arrival of
Guitar Hero II on Xbox 360 early next month, we hear from GDC in San Francisco this morning that the game's original developer, Harmonix, has inked a deal with Electronic Arts to distribute its forthcoming MTV-branded game.
"The new project that we're working on is by far our most ambitious undertaking ever", Harmonix boss Alex Rigopulos told attendees at a GDC press reception last night.
He added, "As incredible as the last year has been for Harmonix with the phenomenon that was Guitar Hero, the truth is that Guitar Hero is really just the tip of the iceberg; it's the very beginning of what these kind of game can and will become."
"I'm delighted to announce that after a long period of discussion Electronic Arts has reached an agreement with Harmonix and MTV to produce the next great thing from the makers of Guitar Hero, which will be... to be announced," added EA Partners general manager David DeMartini. Funny guy!
Since we are talking about MTV-owned Harmonix, SPOnG can only presume that the game will be in some manner a music-based title, but then you never know. Stranger things have happened. Watch this space.
