Yorkshireman and Huddersfield Town fan, Patrick Stewart, is to provide the voice talent to advertising for Square Enix’s forthcoming
Final Fantasy XII, which is due in PAL territories on February 23rd.
While getting advertising cash for an epic Japanese gaming franchise is all well and good for the Shakespearean actooor, Square might like to bear in mind that the ex-Captain Picard can easily turn nasty.
Why? Well, Stewart recently gave an interview to
The Stage magazine in which he more than rued his days in the big black seat aboard the bridge of the USS Enterprise. In short, he told stage, “I was a different actor after that (being offered
Next Generation in 1986) — doing that kind of play (
Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? in London), and finally being able to make truth of an emotional commitment to a role like that... The calamity that then happened to me was that I was offered
Star Trek: The Next Generation.”
So, beware Square says SPOnG.
