Among a number of
other new release announcements, Konami unveiled a new Wii title at its Gamers Day in the US on Friday.
The provisionally-entitled
Dewy's Adventure is designed by the same producer behind the eagerly-awaited
Eledees and is set for release later in 2007.
Players will use the Wii Remote, “to control the elements and tilt the ground of the game world as players help a small droplet of water save its home from a mysterious dark force. The game is set on a world where pure water and green forests have flourished, and which once enjoyed centuries of peace and prosperity under the careful watch of the Elder Tree.”
The peace is threatened by an evil character by the rather humdrum name of Don Hedron, who has taken control of the Elder Tree and transformed the land into a dark place covered by Black Water. The cad!
Using the last of its remaining power, the Elder Tree has created a small droplet of water (the titular Dewy) and granted it the power of the elements with the hope that it could eradicate the Black Water and restore peace to the world.
It all sounds very much like
Marble Madness meets
Mercury Meltdown Revolution with a little extra watery twist (Dewy, for example, will sometimes have to transform into ice or steam to solve certain puzzles and players can also use gestures to create earthquakes, windstorms and thunder storms).
Which sounds right up our street. And with that in mind, stay tuned for our preview of Ignition/Atari’s really rather special
Mercury Meltdown Revolution later today.
Dewy's Adventure is scheduled for release on the Wii later in 2007. SPOnG will be sure to drip-feed you news as we get it.
