EA has confirmed that the hotly anticipated
Spore will be coming to the Nintendo DS. The announcement came during EA's quarterly conference call during which it also affirmed its support for Nintendo platforms.
According to EA Will Wright's
Spore joins 14 other titles currently in development for Nintendo platforms. Also confirmed are two titles from the Wright-created Sims franchise:
My Sims on both the Wii and DS and
Sim City.
Speaking on EA's plans for the Nintendo platforms the company's CEO, Larry Probst, said:
"On the Nintendo platforms, we think that we can be a very strong number two. Clearly Nintendo will always be number one on the Wii and Nintendo DS, but we think we have a realistic goal of being number two, with a market share goal of 15-20 percent."
SPOnG reported that
Spore will come to consoles
way back in August, but EA was quick to try and quash the news. We wouldn't want to say "told you so", but…
Speaking exclusively to SPOnG in August Will Wright seemed rather enamoured with the DS, saying: "People are actually using both screens and the stylus in cool ways, and every game seems kind of different. It feels like unique, interesting gameplay."
There are no details on when
Spore will hit the DS as yet, but SPOnG's excited nonetheless. Now we just need it on the Wii!
