Not unpredictably
World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade cleans up in the charts this week. It helps push sales up 4% on last week in units while value dropped only £54K, which is pretty impressive for a damp January.
Thanks again in no small part to
WoW, PC software sales go up (an almost ridiculous) 43% in units and 48% in value. PC games take a 33% share of the market, their largest since Autumn 2005. Console software, plagued by the January doldrums, sees a drop across the board, however.
Crashing in at Number 1, Vivendi's
WoW: The Burning Crusade sells a whopping 123,661. That's over four times the sales of its closest rival. It narrowly missed the grand title of "Fastest Selling PC Game Ever", being beaten by
Championship Manager '04.
Is SPOnG surprised by any of this? Hell no! Check out our
launch coverage if you're wondering why.
The original
World of Warcraft manages to make a reappearance, too. Riding the gilded coattails of
The Burning Crusade the original drops in at Number 28.
There were some other games in the charts this week. SPOnG has not forgotten this. Nudged down to Number 2 is Capcom's
Lost Planet: Extreme Condition.
Nintendo's
Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, EA's
FIFA '07 and Konami's
Pro Evolution Soccer 6 all follow
Lost Planet and shuffle down a place to make room for
Burning Crusade.
The biggest upwards climber this week is Sega's
World Snooker Championship 2007, jumping 11 places to Number 6.
Thanks to renewed stock (and that handy Wii Remote it includes)
Wii Play nearly clambers back into the To 10, missing out by one place at Number 11.
The fallen this week are Activision's
Tony Hawks: Project 8 dropping 13 places to Number 39 and Ubisoft's
Rayman: Raving Rabbids sliding 12 places to Number 40.
