Dance! Online Closed Beta Opens
Acclaim Games has announced closed beta testing for Dance! Online for its free massively multiplayer online dancing game (MMODG).

According to the company:
”Using either a keyboard or supported dance pad, players will be able to dance in an interactive music video right on their PC, all this at no cost at all. By keeping in sync with the beat, players will be able to perfect their dancing skills that range from basic steps to the wildest dance moves.

“Dance! Online will also feature the hit music in a variety of styles and genres from the world’s hottest music artists.

Mmmmm… hot. SPOnG wonders if Wakefield’s own The Humour will be included – we think not.

Dance! Online’s creator, Dave Perry, is obviously ecstatic about the whole thing, saying "A free game with real hit songs to dance to, this has never happened before. We've come up with an entirely new way to work with the music industry, on a game that costs nothing to play. Dance! Online is going to completely revolutionize the online game space. I'm expecting that this dancing game will create a new culture, changing the way gamers and music artists interact in today’s virtual world."

Whoa down there, Dave, ‘revolutionise’ is a pretty strong word to use about a beta. Most revolutions also require several million people to pull off – otherwise they’re really just ‘uprisings’ or ‘riots’. We’ll let time tell if Dance! Online qualifies as more than a riot once we can get it to send our registration back.

To play and do that closed beta thing, registered players must receive an official invitation by email. Invitations will be emailed regularly on a first come, first served basis. To register, go to www.danceonlinegame.com.
