If you want to play EA's
Hellgate: London online you'll have to pay. Bill Roper, CEO of the game's developer Flagship Studios, has said that online multiplayer aspect will carry a subscription fee in the mode of an MMO.
According to Roper the game will draw heavily from massively multi-player online games, with features such as guilds, continually added content, and raid-type gameplay. He claimed that the focus is on solo and group player versus environment gameplay. A player-versus-player element will exist but won't be emphasised

News of the subscription fee comes hot on the heels of EA announcing a summer release for the title. It seems it can't help but give with one hand then mercilessly take with the other.
So, is it an MMO or a first of its kind? Is EA following an established model or finding a new way to grab your cash? SPOnG contacted EA to find out but we've had no response as yet. Let us know what you think in the forum.
