N64 back on top as Paper Mario goes straight in at Number 1
Flagging N64 enjoys a rare moment in the sun
Paper Mario has done what no other game could, topping the all-format charts in the States.
The game is an RPG from Nintendo and is the first to feature the vivacious Italian plumber. Paper Mario is a 2D affair, and was originally scheduled for a Japanese only release. When it showed at E3 in LA last May and at ECTS last September, the reaction was so positive, Nintendo opted to take the game to all territories.
This seems like a good move as Paper Mario will surely be the last N64 title to top the all format charts. We are glad the system is going out with a bang.
