Concern about fights possibly breaking in the queue

It seems that Her Majesty’s Metropolitan Police force has been extra vigilant today, having turned up at HMV on Oxford Street this morning at 7.30am in order to move on the few people who had been camping overnight in order to claim the made-up title of “First Gamers In The UK To Get A Wii.

“It’s a shame and we think that the police were perhaps being a little over-cautious, but what can you do? If they ask you to clear an area, then you really have no option,” a HMV spokesperson told SPOnG today.

It seems that The Met was concerned about the build-up of gamers along Adam and Eve Court, which runs perpendicular to Oxford Street alongside HMV’s flagship store.

Plus, the HMV spokesperson told us, “There was some concern about people getting hassled and fights possibly breaking out over who was where in the queue.”

“We have at least managed to get the names and details of the first 200 punters in the queue, who will be given wristbands when they return to the store later on this evening, to enable them to claim their Wii,” he added. Punters, eh? Nice.

Nanny police shut down the fun, they are so paranoid these days. Al they have to do is maintain a presence in the area and there is less likely to be any trouble

Next they'll be telling you, you need a permit to cue here, fools.

f**k queuing all that time just to be told to move along, surely the police have to have a valid reason for doing it.
