Bookies Release Odds for Xmas No.1
In case you haven’t noticed it’s that time of year again. Which, of course, means that the games industry is whipping itself into a frenzy to pip that Number One Chart slot. To get you into the spirit of things, Paddy Power, bookmakers has released its odds for what will come out tops.

As ever there’s an eclectic mix of titles spanning genre and age groups vying for the top spot. The chief contender once again is the juggernaught Need for Speed franchise with Need for Speed: Carbon. The franchise has taken the top spot for the last three years running, so it’s no surprise to see it as odds-on favourite.

Not far behind them is a bevy of others including a pleasingly healthy dose of family friendly titles such as Guitar Hero 2, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire: Party Edition, Bratz: Forever Diamond and the movie tie-in game Happy Feet.

Sharon McHugh, Novelties Marketing Manager at Paddy Power was quick to big-up the chances for Need for Speed: Carbon, but looking at the list added:

Gears of War has been hailed as one of the best games this year, but the fact it's only available on the XBox 360 means it won't be able to compete with Need for Speed...

"Very often a game like Superman will do well, if the movie has done well, so Eragon could be a bestseller if the Box Office does well and the kids like it enough to buy the game.”

Hmmm… We’re a bit dubious, having seen the Eragon trailer. But in any case, let the greedfest continue...

I think I'll have to put £2 on Zelda to win that, its a been a long wait for that game and it is awesome stuff to boot. Its also the game most are likely to buy a Wii with.

All the rest are sequels indeed but apart from Zelda I'd say Call of Duty 3.
