More good news for Xbox Live (XBL) Gold subscribers today, as EA announces the arrival of a
Superman Returns demo on XBL Marketplace.
Weighing in at a sizeable 905MB, the demo should give you a good taster of what’s in store when the full game arrives later in November.
If you really can’t get enough of Clark Kent’s pant-wearing alter-ego then you can also grab a "Man of Steel" theme for 150 MS points ($1.88).
EA has also released a bunch of other XBL downloads, including three new cars up for
Need for Speed Carbon, each setting you back 80 points ($1) and a pack of
FIFA 07 ‘Pitch Crests’ at a 100 points each ($1.25); so you can add your favourite team logos to your in-game pitch, just like on the telly.
Superman Returns (a tie-in with the Warner movie, natch) is billed as “the ultimate open-world superhero experience.” Well, of course it is.
SPOnG will reserve judgement on that until we get our filthy claws on the review code next week. We do like the sound of an in-game (80 square miles) Metropolis with more than 10,000 buildings. The goddam town also changes dynamically as you affect the gameplay.
Basically, some members of SPOnG ‘hearts’ Superman, and we hope and pray that EA’s
finally done him some justice. With his showy array of mega-powers such as flight, X-Ray vision, heat vision, super hearing, super hearing, strength, speed and super everything-else it’s about freaking time somebody put him in a decent videogame. Past attempts have been decidedly average, at best.

dedicated Superman Returns page for all the latest pics and art from the game.
