One ‘casual’ game that’s sure to do the business yet again this year is Eidos’ latest version of the popular Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?.

This year’s videogame version of Christ Tarrant’s cash cow is destined to be, if anything, even more popular than in past years as Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Party Edition (yes, we did say ‘party edition’!) is set to be fully BUZZ!-compatible.

That’s right, Eidos is to be the first third-party publisher to make use of Sony’s mass market-friendly buzzers and, whatever you think of Tarrant or Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, you have to take your hat off to them for pulling off the deal.

Amazingly, Millionaire is now in its 20th season in the UK; the show is among ITV1’s most enduringly popular shows, having won over 60 awards globally and been licensed to 105 countries.

“Anyone who has ever fancied their chances on the television programme will relish the chance to play Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Party Edition on Buzz! Buzzers. The interaction and competitive elements of the game are fully realised when four of you are battling it out round the television this Christmas,” said Matt Russell, Brand Manager Eidos.

SPOnG has contacted both Eidos and SCEE for comment on the deal, plus to find out more about any future possible third-party titles that may also be BUZZ!-compatible, so we will keep you posted with that news as we get it.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Party Edition is out on November 24. You might want to remind your gran or your daft aunty who always buys you the wrongest things NOT to get it you for Christmas this year. Again.

Casual gaming this Christmas is all about Wii Sports and Wii Play. Take a stand. Don’t let your family ruin Christmas by claiming Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Party Edition will be great fun for an after-dinner treat. SPOnG would rather watch Dr No and The Wizard of Oz for the 34th time in a row rather than be subjected to this.
