The decision to produce a next-generation version of Monster Farm has been made due to the popularity of the PSX original.

Monster Farm allows the player to breed and raise a number of individual monsters in a simulator. Interestingly, monsters can be created by simply reading data from a regular CD. The PlayStation 2 enhanced version boasts new monsters and four additional farms with varying features.

The preview for the game, held by Tecmo in Roppongi, Tokyo, was welcomed by an eager Japanese audience. The market for virtual pets is massive in Japan, and following Nintendo’s recent Pokemon invasion of America and Europe, there is every hope for a successful global launch of Monster Farm. The game will hit Japanese stores on March 22nd. American and European release dates have not yet been specified.
