Ubisoft continues to impress SPOnG with its solid support for Nintendo's forthcoming Wii, having just confirmed that a new Far Cry title is being readied for the Wii launch later this year, as we
first reported last month.
Far Cry Vengeance will make full use of the Wii-mote and Nunchuk to jump, shoot, drive, fight and climb your way through the beautiful tropical island setting of the game. Check out the first screens right here, which, whilst clearly not a patch on PC/next gen, don't look as bad as many forum commentators seem keen to point out.
Ubisoft tells us that FCV has a new story, although it does still sound a little like that of the Far Cry Instincts Evolution expansion. From the press release: "Based on the highly-successful Far Cry Evolution, Far Cry Vengeance expands on the experience with a new storyline, new maps and new weapons... The incident at Jacutan Archipelago changed Jack Carver’s life forever. Jack has had little choice but to embrace the disturbing talents unleashed by Krieger’s unique brand of folk medicine. Back at his home port in Micronesia, Jack thought he had finally found paradise. But when a gorgeous woman draws him in on a dangerous heist, their sun-drenched days take a chilling turn. Hunted for a murder he didn’t commit, Jack must draw on his most savage instincts to make his predators his prey."
Hang on a second here! 'Unique brands of folk medicine', gorgeous temptresses, sun-drenched tropical islands? This sounds like SPOnG's recurring fantasy holiday dream.
Vehicles in the game will include ATVs, hovercrafts, pick-up trucks and even jet-skis, whilst Jack's animalistic, feral powers mean that he is able to jump higher, run faster and slash more powerfully than all of his enemies combined.
SPOnG will bring you more news on Far Cry Vengeance and the rest of Ubisoft's impressive Wii roster as we get it.
Roll on December.
