News from CTIA in LA earlier tells of Nokia planning to launch a next-generation mobile games platform by mid-2007 in its Series 60 phones. Plus, the Finnish giant has just announced a deal with EA to bring the uber-publishers games to both its current handsets and to the fancy new ones we'll all no doubt be told about in six month's time.
Lucky Nokia owners can now access the new Nokia Content Discoverer (NCD) which features virtual shops where users can browse and buy content. What super fun! A virtual shopping mall on your mobile phone!
"The core of Nokia's games strategy is to make it easy for people to find, buy and play great quality mobile games," said Jaakko Kaidesoja, director of games at Nokia.
The initial raft of seven EA titles includes Tetris, Tetris Mania, The Sims 2, Doom, FIFA 06, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 and FIFA Street 2.
"Nokia shares our vision of making it easy for people around the world to find and play the best quality games on their mobile phones," said Mitch Lasky, senior vice president at EA.
How heartwarming that two of the biggest games and mobile communications companies in the world 'share a vision'. It makes SPOnG realise that there can be a better future for our children. If only all companies were so visionary and caring as these two behemoths (Okay, stop it! - Ed).
