Molyneux on Vista, Live Anywhere and Working for The Man

Peter Molyneux – the exclusive SPOnG interview. Live, now.

Posted by Staff
SPOnG recently caught up with the engagingly garrulous Peter Molyneux who gave us his full and refreshingly unbridled opinions on the contemporary videogames scene, including some revelations on Fable 2, some clues as to his/Lionhead’s next project, plus his thoughts on next-gen consoles, why his Satellites scheme flopped, and what it's like working for Microsoft.

It was also interesting to note that Molyneux makes numerous references to Vista and Microsoft’s hugely ambitious ‘Live Anywhere’ strategy throughout the interview, noting that:

“I would say that it's all about value, and it's all about making games that make a difference to Vista and Xbox 360. The first thing we're thinking is: how can we make more people enjoy our games? And the other thing is, we've got Live, with the gamertags and gamers' points, so how can we use those in a way that really pushes things forward? That is the big change, I think…

“…gamertags and Live Arcade are fantastic…. when that gets fully entrenched, it will totally change the way we think of gaming.”

SPOnG would like to say thanks to Peter for yet again taking time out of his busy schedule to speak with us. You can see the full, unexpurgated interview over in SPOnG's features pages.

Microsoft's contract says you're not allowed to admit to taking over the world.

Anyway, I think the biggest point is, who actually wants to change the way we think about gaming? I know what I like, I just want games that satisfy what I like - I don't want people to change my way of thinking just for the sake of it.

Still, if they make good games, I don't care what they think.
