Sony prepares to wish the PlayStation 2 Happy Birthday
Over the next few weeks, Japanese gamers will be invited to wish the PlayStation 2 a happy birthday. Sony Computer Entertainment of Japan will be opening up its sixth floor office to allow gamers access to some of the consoles hottest upcoming titles.

It has been a year of mixed fortunes for Sony’s second foray into the video games industry. The PlayStation and it’s second incarnation, the Psone, is now the biggest selling games platform to date, and the company had hoped that the PlayStation 2 would continue this pattern of success. After a frenzied launch that spanned every gaming region and a short lived black market price explosion, the honeymoon period came to an abrupt end with a mixture of malicious tabloid reports, disappointed consumers and under-achieving titles.

Sony is aiming to restore a bit of confidence in its users with a first birthday celebration bash for the PlayStation 2. Gamers will be invited into the normally top-secret offices to play a selection of the console’s hottest upcoming titles: Zone Of Enders, Para Para Paradise, World Soccer Winning Eleven, Pilot ni Narou! 2 Densha De Go 3, Biohazard Code Veronica Complete, Monster Farmer, Guitar Man One, Extermination and the awesome Gran Turismo 3 A Spec will be available to play.
