Ubisoft is opening another development studio in Canada. The developer (creatively named 'Ubisoft Toronto') is expected to create 800 new jobs.

The studio is being helped along by the Ontarian provincial government investing a cool CA$263 million over ten years. Ubisoft's net investment will be over half a billion dollars CAD. Ontarian Premier Dalton McGuinty was on hand for the press conference announcing the venture.

The studio joins Ubisoft's Montréal, Quebec City and Vancouver outfits in Canada, which employ some 2,300 people between them. It will focus on AAA games, according to the announcement.

Ubisoft tells us that "Ubisoft Toronto will contribute to Ubisoft’s global plan of extending its brands to complementary platforms and mediums, including books, comics, short films and other products". It will also tap local film talent to help extend Ubi's reach.
