Summary

Publisher of official WWE games, THQ has a stellar reputation when it comes to delivering some of the greatest grapple-em-ups the industry has seen. The Smackdown series is indeed the most played, but THQ's GameCube offering WWE: Day of Reckoning proves to be just as playable and every bit as addictive.

A 'Cube exclusive, Day of Reckoning sees players climbing the ranks of WWE stardom as either a renowned WWE star or as a brand new wrestler in the game's all-new story mode. Dubbed the School of Hard Knocks, players are able to take their newly created wrestler and pit themselves against a variety of tougher wrestlers. Beginning your days as an amateur, you'll first have conquer the minor leagues and build a reputation before partaking in the WWE's most prestigious tournaments. As you progress you'll interact with other characters as a fresh WWE story unfolds. You'll make friends, and you'll make enemies, and in a sense it adds a greater feeling of depth to an otherwise simple beat-em-up.

But if a quick thrashing is what your after, Day of Reckoning can accommodate. Complete with numerous multiplayer options, virtual wrestlers can participate in a variety of quick-play modes that includes the female-orientated - and blokes' favourite - Bra & Panties match.

And as the latest WWE game to hit GameCube, Day of Reckoning also demonstrates improved visuals, better sounds, better cameras, and an enhanced grappling engine to make gameplay more fluid than ever before. In short, it's quite possibly the best WWE game yet.
